Welcoming the Pastoral Exchange Representative - 2002The Northeastern Ohio Synod, ELCA in partnership with the Northern Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Africa welcomes the Pastoral Exchange Representative for 2002.
Our partners in the Northern Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa have chosen the Rev. Nnditsheni “Edwin” Khodoga as their Pastoral Exchange Representative for 2002. Pastor Khodoga is visiting the Northeastern Ohio Synod during the months of September and October.
Visitors from our synod have met “Edwin” at each of our last two exchange visits, in 1999 and 2001. Pastor Khodoga was one of the “presenters” at the Joint Lutheran Leadership Conference in 1999. He spoke on the topic of SOUTH AFRICA SPIRITUALITY. He was also a part of the pastoral team that helped with the Workshop on Preaching from the Gospel of Mark in the Bohlabela Circuit in the summer of 2001. The Bohlabela Circuit is paired with our Eastern Conference. It is located in the very scenic eastern section of the Northern Diocese that borders Bruger National Park, home to a part of the Drakensberg mountain range.
Pastor Khodoga is thirty-three years old, born in Dzhelele (venda in the Devhula Lebowa Circiut). He did his theological training at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Mapumulo (Natal), 1991-94, was ordained in 1995 by Bishop C.M. Molefe in Lebowakgomo (Polokwane Circuit), and presently serves the Bosmo Parish in the Bohlabela Circuit under Dean E.T. Matsenene. His interests include mission and revival work, as well as stewardship training. He would like to learn more about the HIV/Aids programs, which our churches and social ministries support and sponsor.
These pictures are from a reception for Pr. Khodoga held in the Synod Resouce Center on September 13, 2002. |
