How does your congregation live out being a mission outpost?

 

We are currently a host site for Angel Food Ministry. This is a program that provides low cost groceries to all who are interested. We distribute food to around 40 – 50 families in our community monthly. This provides significant cost savings to people who need it. We have served the elderly, single mothers, the unemployed, those who are struggling with disabilities and illness, and others who are working hard to make ends meet. When people pick up their food we are able to hear their stories and share support and prayer with them if needed. When one woman picked up her order she thanked God for this ministry because she didn’t know how she was going to pay her rent that month and feed her family as well. With the help of around 15 congregational members a month we are able to make a real difference in our community.
