Hospitality Coordinator. The Northeastern Ohio Synod is seeking a Hospitality Coordinator to provide welcoming services and light clerical skills for the Lutheran Center. The Hospitality Coordinator will answer phones, greet guests, manage the staff kitchen, and perform clerical duties for the entire staff. Assets being sought include: strong interpersonal skills, engaging telephone presence, ability to keep confidence, good organizational skills, and an ability to move nimbly between tasks. This position is for 5 hours a day, Monday – Friday; hours are negotiable upon hire. Resource Specialist. The Northeastern Ohio Synod is seeking a Resource Specialist to curate, catalog, and manage the various resources of the synod. This includes the Resource Center assets, clergy and deacon rosters, congregational files, and volunteer databases. This position will function as the statistician of the synod who will have responsibilities with the churchwide expression of the ELCA. This position will also function as a resource for congregations and leaders in areas that fall under their portfolio. Ability to function in a digital workplace is a necessity. Assets for this position would include self-motivation, attention to detail, good interpersonal skills, and a commitment to being flexible; a library science background could be beneficial. Because of the sensitive nature of the office of the bishop, this person must be able to maintain confidentiality. This is a full-time position with benefits. Communication and Technologies Director. The Northeastern Ohio Synod is seeking a Communication and Technologies Director to establish an overall communication strategy for the Synod Offices. This position will have oversite of all forms of communication: written, website, and social media. In addition, the position will aid in engaging new technologies (online and applications) that enhance the overall workspace. Assets for this position would include excellent writing skills, intimate knowledge of social media platforms, web design basics (HTML or backend functions not necessary), and an inquisitive and curious attitude about new technologies. Director of Music. First Lutheran, Lorain seeks a Director of Music. The Director of Music coordinates the total music program of the church, which enhances the spirit of worship and assists the congregations in praising and serving God.  Plays the organ and/or piano at all worship services. Responsible for the oversight, leadership and direction of all congregation choirs. Helps plan the worship services in coordination with the Pastor and the Worship and Music Committee. Assists the Pastor in communication functions. Demonstrates and integrates the mission of the church into all behaviors and responsibilities. The position is a 15-25 hours per week position, with flexible scheduling. Because of the nature of church employment it is recognized that the Director of Music is expected to fulfill evening and weekend responsibilities. Therefore adequate time off (one day per week, generally of Friday) should be granted that is free from church-related responsibilities. Requirements include: High school diploma (Bachelor’s degree in music preferred but not required); Accomplished organist/pianist and conductor of choirs (adult, children) and vocalists, bells, instrumentalists and percussionists; Minimum of two years experience working in a church setting with responsibility over music program; An understanding of Lutheran doctrine and liturgical practice; Appreciation for and understanding of all styles of worship; Supportive of trying new worship styles regularly; Possesses ideas for and can implement creative worship concepts; Understanding of basic computer skills; Possesses time-management and organizational skills; Able to successfully pass a background check and drug test. Holden Village Lutheran Retreat Center, Chelan County, Washington. Holden Village is a remote wilderness retreat center founded in the Lutheran church and focused on education, justice, and renewal. Holden Village’s year-round program is run by a combination of employees, long-term volunteers, and short-term volunteers. After temporarily closing in March 2020 during the pandemic, the center is re-opening and looking for seasonal and long-term volunteers, as well as several new employees. High School Youth Leader.
